|
A little about the project
2015 is the year of two important centennials as far as Jazz singing is concerned: Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra.
The two gigantic icons of American music couldn’t be more different in background, style, repertoire and life stories. Cheek to Cheek is a show that features both personalities and styles. From the Big Band era to the classics albums “With Strings” the show is a voyage in the great American Song book trough the art of immortal arrangers such as Quincy Jones, Nelson Riddle, Bill May and Ray Ellis. The show features two singers Sweet Lu and Alice Ricciardi who interact with small jazz ensembles, Big Band, String Orchestra and Big Band and Strings combined. From Night And Day to Lover Man, from Nancy with the Laughing Face to Almost like Being in Love the show takes the audience from the excitement of swing to the intensity of the Blues. The musical director Antonio Ciacca uses some of the classical arrangements but most of the material is arranged by himself for this show. The show includes tap dancer who is bring extra sparking energy to a great show of swing and immortal melodies. |
